After spending my teenage years & twenties racing short events I decided to move up to distance events during my thirties.
My racing career started when I began Secondary school. I competed in swimming, cycling, running & triathlons, along with playing waterpolo. I competed for England at Junior Level in Waterpolo and youth level for Great Britain in Duathlon and Triathlon.
Since turning 30 I have:
Swum the English Channel solo (2007) and have also swum 3 relays; As part of a 4 person relay team, Croydon Amphibians Masters (2011), a 5 person relay team, Sivota harks (2014) and another 4 person relay They lied and told me this was a fun, warm swim (2019). I have competed in the Sri Chinmoy Lake Zurich Marathon Swim (26.4km) 3 times (2008, 2009 & 2010).
I have also raced 6 Iron distance triathlons, 40 marathons and 37 ultras, including the Marathon des Sables (2011).
In 2012 I completed the Enduroman Arch to Arc which I am a previous World Record holder and first person to complete the swim section without a wetsuit.
Check out the film of the event - Filmed and edited by Martyn Hollingworth, transmitted on C4 December 2012.
In 2015 I completed the Trans-Portugal Mountain Bike race - 1,100km from North to South off road in 8 days
